Gold coins’ values are determined by the price of gold, not the denomination. The value imprinted on coins are just to prove that it is legal tender and is no way a reflection of its worth; it’s true value, for which you can redeem it at any US bank, is based off the price of gold. The price for 1 oz of pure gold varies several times daily, just check it online. 1 o right now is around $ 650, maybe a little less.

The bullion value of 1 ounce of gold is right at $ 930 currently, but the American Eagle may fetch $ 1000 or a bit more on a good day.

A LOT! Wait though until gold hits a higher level because right now gold is trading at around $ 980.00 an once. You can wait a little and till gold gets higher and than sell. You’ll get a lot for what your saying you got. Just wait till gold prices go up into the $ 1200.00+ range

It depends on the value of gold at the time you sell it. The uncirculated 1986 coin has no added collector value that date had a high mintage of 1,362,260. The proof version does, for the mintage was 446,290. Check with a couple of coin dealers for they will pay spot minus a percentage for their profit. Some dealers take more than others. Hope this helps.
